YOGYAKARTA – In preparation for the 2026/2027 academic year, the leadership and teachers of ABA Semesta Kindergarten held a gathering with the Gamping Subdistrict Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimkap), alongside the Gamping Branch Board of Muhammadiyah (PCM) and ‘Aisyiyah (PCA) on Thursday (2/7). The event served as an opportunity to strengthen collaboration between ABA Semesta, the government, and the community in advancing early childhood education.

Among those in attendance was Siti Noordjannah Djohantini, Chairperson of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah and the Board of Governance of ABA Semesta. In her remarks, she emphasized that fostering silaturahim has long been an integral part of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah tradition, serving to reinforce Islamic bonds while building collaboration with various sectors of society.

She appreciates the strong solidarity demonstrated by the PCM and PCA of Gamping Subdistrict, noting that their unity has been instrumental in advancing the organization’s mission.

“I see that the Gamping Branch Board embodies harmony and solidarity, which are part of Muhammadiyah’s DNA. This is a principle that Muhammadiyah has always upheld. When one institution progresses, all should progress together, just as we strive to advance Muhammadiyah’s and ‘Aisyiyah’s charitable enterprises,” she said.

Noordjannah explained that the establishment of ABA Semesta Kindergarten represents the continuation of ‘Aisyiyah’s long-standing legacy as a pioneer of early childhood education in Indonesia. Since founding its first ABA (‘Aisyiyah Bustanul Athfal) Kindergarten in 1919, ‘Aisyiyah has consistently provided educational services that adapt to the changing times while remaining firmly rooted in the values of Progressive Islam.

According to her, ABA Semesta symbolizes educational innovation in the second century of ‘Aisyiyah’s journey.

“‘Aisyiyah established its first ABA Kindergarten in 1919, more than a century ago. Therefore, I want to emphasize that ‘Aisyiyah is a pioneer of early childhood education in Indonesia. ABA Semesta continues the legacy of all ABA Kindergartens established before it while introducing a new educational innovation. The name Semesta marks a new milestone in the advancement of ABA in ‘Aisyiyah’s second century,” said Noordjannah.

Meanwhile, Warsiti, Rector of ‘Aisyiyah University (UNISA) Yogyakarta, stated that the gathering reflected the institution’s commitment to strengthening collaboration between ABA Semesta, Muhammadiyah, ‘Aisyiyah, government agencies, and the wider community.

She expressed hope for broad support to ensure the successful implementation of the upcoming academic year and to maximize the benefits for students and the surrounding community.

“For us, this gathering is an effort to strengthen relationships and build synergy so that ABA Semesta can truly benefit everyone. We certainly need cooperation from many stakeholders. Therefore, we seek your support so that the new academic year can begin smoothly and produce the best possible outcomes,” Warsiti said.

The event was also attended by Yuliana, Chairperson of the Gamping Branch Board of ‘Aisyiyah; Muhaimin, Chairperson of the Gamping Branch Board of Muhammadiyah; Kurnia Astuti, Deputy Head of Gamping Subdistrict representing the Subdistrict Head (Panewu); as well as leaders of Muhammadiyah and ‘Aisyiyah branches throughout Gamping Subdistrict.

On the occasion, Muhaimin described ABA Semesta as a beacon of progress, expressing hope that it would radiate positive impacts on educational development while strengthening Muhammadiyah’s and ‘Aisyiyah’s educational institutions in the Gamping area.

Through the collaborative spirit fostered among Muhammadiyah, ‘Aisyiyah, government institutions, and the community, ABA Semesta is expected to become a model of excellent, innovative, and progressive early childhood education. More than simply marking the beginning of a new academic year, the kindergarten represents ‘Aisyiyah’s continuing commitment to nurturing generations of Muslims who are morally grounded, intellectually capable, adaptable, and well-prepared to face future challenges, while carrying forward the educational mission that the organization has upheld for more than a century.
