SLEMAN — The central leadership of ‘Aisyiyah officially broke ground on the ABA Semesta Kindergarten, a strategic step toward establishing a leading early childhood education center based on progressive Islam and a global perspective. The event, held in Sleman Regency, Yogyakarta Special Region, was attended by various national figures, Muhammadiyah-‘Aisyiyah leaders, local government officials, academics, and the community.
The groundbreaking ceremony was symbolically conducted by Haedar Nashir, along with the leadership of the Central Board of ‘Aisyiyah, the Regent of Sleman, and relevant officials, marking the start of construction on one of ‘Aisyiyah’s strategic educational projects for the future of Indonesian children’s education.
In his address, the Chairman of Central Board of Muhammadiyah stated that the construction of the ABA Semesta Kindergarten is not merely a physical school development, but part of an investment in civilization through early childhood education. Early childhood education is seen as a crucial foundation for shaping a future generation that is knowledgeable, moral, creative, and capable of facing changing times.
Various remarks delivered at the event also emphasized the importance of establishing early childhood education institutions capable of addressing global challenges without losing their Islamic identity, nationality, and humanitarian values. The Sleman Regency Government expressed its hope that the ABA Semesta Kindergarten will be the beginning of strengthening the foundations of civilization through quality, inclusive, and future-oriented education.
ABA Semesta Kindergarten is designed as a center of excellence in early childhood education, integrating the values of monotheism (tawhid), noble morals (akhlakul karimah), creativity, exploration, child-friendly learning technology, and a play-based learning approach that is fun and developmentally appropriate.
Embracing the philosophy of “Play, Pray, Lead the Future,” ABA Semesta Kindergarten presents an educational concept that emphasizes not only academic aspects but also fosters spirituality, leadership character, curiosity, social skills, and creativity in children from an early age. Children are expected to grow into a progressive generation of Muslims who are confident, adaptable, care for others, and ready to face a global future.
The ABA Semesta Kindergarten building concept is also specifically designed to support children’s holistic growth and development. The building’s architecture combines Islamic and modern values with the philosophy of the universe and the solar system, where the sun symbolizes the light of knowledge and the center of learning. Geometric shapes, elements of numbers and letters, and educational open spaces are presented as part of a fun and inspiring learning environment for children.
Standing on approximately 5,450 m² of land and boasting a three-story building, ABA Semesta Kindergarten will be equipped with various modern, child-friendly facilities, including interactive classrooms, a learning laboratory, a multimedia learning corner, a reading corner, a theater room, a convention hall, a prayer room, a children’s pool, an indoor and outdoor play area, a semi-outdoor playground, a kitchen and dining area, and a security system and CCTV.
The construction of ABA Semesta Kindergarten is part of Aisyiyah’s significant commitment to continuing its more than century-long legacy in early childhood education. As a pioneering women’s organization in education since 1919, Aisyiyah continues to deliver educational innovations rooted in the values of Progressive Islam while meeting the needs of future generations.
With the presence of ABA Semesta Kindergarten, it is hoped that a new space will be created for Indonesian children to learn, play, pray, and prepare themselves to become a generation of learners who will lead the future with knowledge, morals, and concern for others.
